For years Larry Kirchner of Hauntworld.com had been trying to convince the industry to launch a national PR campaign and the industry didn't respond. Finally after Larry became the President of IAHA, he was able to convince with Ben Armstrong's help the board of IAHA to help fund a national public relations effort. Larry Kirchner went out and raised private of IAHA $16,000.00, while the IAHA board approved a contribution of $14,000.00 Together a total of $30,000.00 was raised and Larry hired a PR firm from New York and the rest is history. The national PR effort helped the industry gain over 15,000,000.00 dollars (thats FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS) worth of NATIONAL PRESS, which helped the industry gain much needed boost.
The industry reported record numbers in 2006 and plans are already on for a repeat of the program. National press ended up in USA TODAY, NBC Today Show, CBS Mourning Show, AP Wire, tons of magazines and so much more.
