ROCKY POINT AUCTION REPORT

Yes Hauntworld.com was at the Rocky Point Haunted House Auction. Many well known haunters attended the auction such as Karl Fields, Monty Summers (owner of The Beast), Rodney Geffert and so many more we can't even describe. In total there was about 150 bidders and bidding was very difficult to say the least. Too many people trying to pile into small cramped area's made it nearly impossible. But Norton pulled off another stunning job keeping things rolling all day.

So what is the final tally... we estimate that the auction took in about $425,000.00. When you consider how awesome the attraction was thats a low figure, however most of the sets where built to STAY, as in NEVER be moved. How much you bid on certain sets, or props was also factored by how much it would take you to remove it and what kind of condition it would be in after you removed it.

I wouldn't say anything went for a lot more than it was worth with the only exception the costumes. People paid absurd amounts of money for some costumes that you could buy at goodwill. Overall though I think the price was just about right for everything purchased. Many happy bidders we would say...

Some of the highlights.

MIRROR MAZE: This had to be the best mirror maze ever created. This went for $18,000.00

Haunted Mansion Rooms: This included a facade and about 5 rooms that all tied together with some props. $40,000.00

World War II Search Light: This was the ONLY thing I wanted around for to bid on and should have got it... but I let it go for $16,500.00

Blacklight Carousel sold for $9,500.00, Frankenstein table sold for $6,500.00, Vortex Tunnel went for around $4,200.00. Then you had a facade here for say $5,000.0 and a facade there for $3,500.00 and all sorts of scenes, caves, bridges that went for all kinds of different prices like $700.00 here and $1,500.00 there.

The costumes is what blew my mind, taking in somewhere around $20,000.00 plus and some where in rough shape or just plain old.

As stated we'd peg this auction at somewhere in the $425,000.00 area. There was television crews on site covering the event, we saw several tears from Cydney and some of her crew. RPHH was charging $10.00 just to enter the auction, and while some thought this was outrageous, we on the hand think it wasn't enough. I would estimate that 75% of the people who showed up showed up for nothing else than taking photos. There were people crawling under the rocking Pirate ship taking pictures, or just people wondering around not even paying one bit of attention to the auction itself while take one photo after another.

I must admit I was one of the photo takers... LOL.

Many of the cooler props and sets where removed from the auction bidding fueling speculation that Cydney Neil will open another haunted house down the road. No one knows that for sure but it was a rumor. There is NO DOUBT this was the haunted event of the YEAR... when this many professional haunt owners come to one place for an auction something is up!

We have also uploaded about 25 photos from the auction. You can view those photos here... http://www.hauntworld.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=77

There are many Rocky Point Rumors flying around from a special DVD that can be purchased to many other things. Keep checking back here at Hauntworld.com for all the latest information.
