FRIDAY THE 13TH MOVIE REVIEW

Jason is back for more carnage and this time he's back as a re-boot courtesy of Micheal Bay's production company which seems to be remaking all of the 80's horror icons from Leatherface to Jason to future projects which include a new Nightmare. I must say I did like the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and despite all of its flaws enjoyed Rob Zombies Halloween remake. What I liked about those two films was we got to see things we never saw before like a bit of back history on Leatherface, the family and with Myers we saw his childhood, his days in the Asylum and got a peak into their minds. With the new Friday the 13th Film we didn't get any of this, we don't know how Jason becomes an unkillable killing machine, they basically glossed right over the original movie which is based on Jason's mother seeking revenge. Jason's mother is featured in the film during the credits and bam Jason is Jason when the movie starts.
The new Friday the 13th movie is filled with horrible acting, horrible direction, and embraces all the typical 80's cliches like victims doing what no one in the right minds would even consider like going out into the woods by themselves even though they're aware a killer lurks. Or how about the ending (SPOILER) where after our hero's think they've killed Jason in a barn, the film cuts to daylight on a peer on the lake and the hero's sit there and wonder what has just happen, then push Jason into the depths of Crystal Lake. First how does two smaller actors drag a 300 pound Jason to the lake from a farm house just to push him in, and second why wouldn't they run for help rather than waiting for daylight just to throw Jason in the Lake on just so Jason can spring up and kill them? DUH? Its a bad movie! On a funny note they push Jason in the lake from a small peer, you'd think its like 4 feet deep, but no they show Jason sinking for what seemed liked miles, heck I think I saw the Titanic behind Jason when he finally hits bottom. LOL
In this movie you have all the classics, the good looking jock who's a jerk to everyone around him, the idiot actors who like to drink and do drugs only to be killed, the female who goes nude so she can be killed, and actors who do the exact opposite of what a normal person would do faced with a killer like Jason running around.
If you've seen any of the Jason movies, and didn't know this was a supposed re-boot you'd just think this is Jason 11 or 12 or whatever. There is nothing new here its just another boring movie with a guy in a hockey mask running around killing teenager.
I know I know it sounds like a downer but I did like some things like Jason having a lair, or traps he sets to find people lurking nearby, and simply the whole idea that Jason is more than a mindless killer, he actually has a brain maybe a small one but still he has a brain in this film. Jason also runs, rather than just walks, and he's pretty brutal, but in what Jason movie wasn't he?
There was a few things that where cool but more or less this was just another Jason movie maybe just a bit slicker than some of the past films. There is just not enough here that is new to make this film worthy of anything more than a DVD rental.
Why the film didn't explore more with his mother, Jason's birth might have been cool, seeing Jason drown, maybe even some sort of exorcist type possession scene prior to his drowning anything to explain how this person becomes a 6'6 300 pound killing machine. I guess the writers couldn't figure out anything new and original so just go to Blockbuster and rent part one, two and three and the best kills from the other 8 films and roll it into one re-boot and that is worth of a 40 million plus opening. We feel most will be disappointed with the film based on the hype. At this point we're begging Freddy gets into Bay's nightmares and convinces him to never remake another 80's iconic horror film.
May Freddy stay resting in peace!

So many guys of our collage went to see this movie called Friday The 13th 2009 I did not get a chance to join and on the other night I saw it on free movies. http://www.80millionmoviesfree.com I personally think film remake is hopeless, but as I saw this movie change my mind. Because it was better horror than the first ones if the movie gets better and out come as high quality movie remake does not have a difference.
